About People's Britain
We are the paper that takes the reader seriously. We report what the establishment press won't, in plain language, from the side of the people who pay for everything and decide nothing.
People's Britain is an independent news outlet. We answer to no party, no owner, no advertiser and no foreign capital. We are not Labour, not Conservative, not Reform, not anyone's. We back an idea when it serves working people and oppose it when it doesn't — whoever is carrying it. A donor scandal gets the same treatment whatever colour rosette it wears.
We stand:
- For working people — the readers who keep the country running and get ignored between elections.
- For democracy — a politics that answers to voters, not lobbies, donors or embassies.
- Against war — and against the comfortable consensus that keeps Britain joining them.
- Against corporate looting — of public services, of wages, of the towns we grew up in.
We treat the BBC, the Times, the Telegraph and the Mail as what they are: institutions with owners and agendas. We read them all. We repeat none of them on trust.
Editorial standards
Every story we publish is checked before it goes out. Our rules, in short:
- Named sources beat anonymous ones. Where others hide behind "sources say", we tell you who said it — or we tell you plainly that we couldn't.
- Claims are traced to evidence. Every factual claim in a piece is checked against a source before publication, and significant claims are attributed in the text.
- People on the receiving end come first. When power hurts people, we lead with the people, not the press release.
- Corrections are published, not buried. If we get something wrong, we say so in the piece and date the change. Spotted an error? Tell us.
How we're funded
Independence costs money. We carry some advertising, and we ask readers who value the work to support it directly. No single funder — commercial or political — is ever allowed to matter enough to change what we publish.
